Assortments

A guide to assortment creation and management.

Introduction

An Assortment is a functional grouping of items (variants or products), used to control product visibility and organization across various contexts such as Catalog Views and Custom Navigation Categories.


Assortment list

The Assortments list page displays all existing assortments and provides tools (search and filters) to locate them efficiently.

To access the assortments list:

Go to : Catalog → Assortments

Each row represents a single assortment and displays its main identification information :

  • assortment external ID
  • assortment name
  • source
  • creation date
  • update date
  • number of variants contained in the assortment
  • number of products contained in the assortment

Available search

The assortments list includes a search that allows users to find assortments based on:

  • Assortment name
  • Assortment external ID

Available filters:

  • Source (multi-select)
  • Creation date / update date (date range)
    • The selected dates are interpreted as “from this date"
  • Custom navigation categories (multi-select)
    • Only the navigation categories available in the current store view are displayed and can be selected in this filter

Creating a new Assortment

Basic Information :

  • Name (mandatory): A clear and unique name to identify the assortment.
  • External ID (mandatory): A unique identifier without spaces or accents for API integration.

There are two main methods to create an assortment:

From the Back Office (BO)

  1. Access the DJUST BO.
  2. Navigate to the Catalog -> Assortiments tab.
  3. Click on Create an assortment.

Important

From the back office, products or variants can only be added after an assortment has been created. Therefore, the assortment must be created first, and then filled with the desired items.


Creation via Import

You can also create or update assortments using the import job feature by uploading a CSV file or via API. This method is particularly useful for managing large assortments or performing bulk updates.

Adding items to an Assortiment

Assortments are managed at the variant level. When creating or editing an assortment, you are always adding specific variants, even when interacting at the product level.

To simplify navigation, the Back Office provides two complementary views:

Variant View Displays each variant individually. This view is ideal for searching, filtering, and managing variants with a high level of precision.

Product View Groups variants under their parent product, making it easier to understand how a product and its variants are represented within the assortment.

Add items from the Back Office (BO)

Once the assortment is created, you can open its details page to manage its content:

From the view Variant, you can add variants manually.

  • Click Add variants to open the list of available variants and select the variants to be included in the assortiment.

  • You can add items individually by selecting one or more products and clicking Add, or

  • You can add all variants displayed on the current page by using the select-all checkbox.

  • A search bar is available to help find the wanted variants easily. A variant can be found by this search criteria's :

    • Variant name
    • Variant external ID
    • Variant SKU
    • Product name
    • Product external ID
    • Product SKU
  • A variant cannot be added more than once.

  • Variants already present in the assortment appear disabled in the selection list.


From the Product view, you can add the entire product.

Note: When you add a product, all of its existing variants are automatically included in the assortment.

  • Click Add products to open the list of available products.
  • You can add items individually by selecting one or more products and clicking Add, or
  • You can add all products displayed on the current page by using the select-all checkbox.
  • A search bar is available to help you filter the list of products or variants more efficiently. A variant can be found by this search criteria's :
    • Product name
    • Variant name
    • Product external Id
    • Variant external Id
    • Product SKU
    • Variant SKU
  • A Variant count column displays the exact number of variants that will be added if the product is selected.

Important

Variants created after the product has been added are not included automatically and must be added manually via the variant selection or by re-adding the product.


Removing Items from an Assortment

Important

  • When a product is removed, all associated variants are automatically removed.
  • If the last remaining variant of a product is removed, the product is no longer displayed.

From the view Variant :

  • Select one or more variants to remove from the assortment, using row checkboxes.
  • Click Remove variants to delete them from the assortment.
  • Use the header checkbox to select all displayed variants for bulk removal.

From the view Product :

  • Select one or more variants to remove from the assortment, using row checkboxes.
  • Click Remove products to delete them from the assortment.
  • Use the header checkbox to select all displayed products for bulk removal.

Using Assortments

Assortments can be used in two main contexts:

  • Show or restrict specific variants within a Catalog View.
    • Use assortments to show or restrict specific variants for selected customer accounts. This is particularly useful for creating customer-specific catalogs, regional assortments, or partner-specific offerings.
  • Show or restrict specific variants within a Custom Navigation Category.
    • Use assortments to control which variants appear within specific navigation categories. This allows you to build curated or thematic categories (for example, seasonal selections or brand-focused categories) while reusing the same assortment across multiple navigation structures.
